BMO Harris Bank Donation Provides 2 50,000 Meals

BMO Harris Bank Donation Provides 250,000 Meals

LEAWOOD, KS (March 5, 2013) – Each week, as many as 66,000 hungry people look to Harvesters and their network of partner organizations for assistance. BMO Harris Bank’s recent donation of $50,000 will help the non-profit provide enough meals to those individuals for nearly a month – 250,000 to be exact.

“Harvesters does a phenomenal job of helping those less fortunate,” said Brad Smith, Kansas President, BMO Harris Bank. “We live in the breadbasket of the U.S. -- where no one should have to go to bed on an empty stomach. I am glad BMO Harris Bank is in a position to help Harvesters in their work to end hunger.”

For more than 30 years, Harvesters has been providing emergency food services to those in need. In fiscal 2012, they distributed more than 41 million pounds of food and household products in their 26-county service area.

“In our region 375,000 people are at risk of missing a meal today and one in five children may go to bed hungry tonight,” said Harvesters President and CEO Karen Haren. “Through this generous donation, BMO Harris Bank is contributing to the health and welfare of thousands of families and children and investing in a stronger community for everyone.”
